This is not a self-portrait, I do not actually look like this...okay, Devon? |
Innocence killed by girl in red dress, shame a popcorn trial weighed by syrupy desolation of massacres. Longing for days of little people and yellow brick roads, morality a compass. But frankness earns no friends, scorn worn a lion's mantle (out of the eater came forth meat out of the strong came forth sweetness). I am the eater, all consuming burning destroying a one-woman Armageddon. Saved before credits role by secret government project; genetically-spliced-polar-bears or carbon-consuming-killer-bees, why can't mosquitos eat Ebola? Worry about earthquake zippers while gossiping on the latest Brangelina adoption. My doomsday bunker stocked with powdered milk, lactose intolerant so literally shitting to death, waiting for Terminator-esque rescue, helicopter blades skimming while acid rain eats the forests. Success is keeping a plant alive, but either meaning is fruit matter.
Stream of consciousness is always an interesting thing to read. I think I'll do that next.
ReplyDeleteThe first few lines had me looking for colour in the rest of your post; you being with a "girl in a red dress," than move to "yellow brick roads," but then there was no more pigmentation. Then again, I see you replaced further mentions of colour with movie titles; Armageddon, Terminator, etc. Have you been watching movies?
I like that about these posts — they leave me with more questions than answers.
Enjoyed the peek into your skull, as usual.
D - thanks for the feedback, the color reference was unintentional, but it might make for an interesting edit. The girl in the red dress references Schindler`s List, which came out when I was 14 or so and really fucked me up as it completely ruined my world view of sunshine and roses. I think it would be an improvement to tone down the actual references and make them more obscure, less flarfy.
ReplyDeleteAs for peeking inside my skull, well that`s a scary thought - I wouldn`t stay too long :)
I enjoyed this, even though I'm not entirely sure what was going on.
ReplyDeleteHey, you never told me you were a CAT! This is awesome!
